Prescott Associates Ltd. is registered with the Landscape Institute and is based at Minerva House, Tynwald Mills, St Johns. The practice was established in Liverpool in 1983, based with the Environmental Advisory Unit at Liverpool University, and secured a presence in the Isle of Man in 1987.

Prescott Associates are award winning designers with their first Chelsea garden built in 1984 having won The Daily/Sunday Telegraph 1983 Garden Design Competition. Subsequently the practice was appointed directly by the paper to design and supervise two further gardens all on different themes.The practice was also commissioned to design various projects at the Liverpool International Garden Festival where it’s Allotment Garden won the Prize of Honour and a gold medal in the Life from the Garden class.

Steve and Jane Prescott, the directors of the business, moved to the Island in 1991, fulfilling a life-long ambition for Jane, whose grandmother was Manx. The Liverpool office continued under their management until 2002 when ownership was transferred to allow them to concentrate soley on their Island-based work.

Steve and Jane bring a complement of skills to the practice. Steve obtained a Diploma in Landscape Architecture from the former Manchester College of Art, and specialises in designing individual solutions for his projects. He also acts as consultant on landscape planning issues. Jane studied for a degree in Natural Environmental Science at Sheffield University, specialising in botany as well as landscape and continued on to take an MA with a dissertation on woodland management. She has a particular interest in natural systems and undertakes the majority of the soft landscape commissions for the practice. Both are Members of the Landscape Institute.

In addition to their work for Prescott Associates, Steve and Jane also direct Landscape Design & Management Ltd, a Manx-based landscape contracting company.
